Literary Essay

In the L/L writing class, we are learning how to write a literature essay. I choosed to write about "The Prison" themes.

The Prison" wrtitten by Bernard Malamud, is about a boy named Toby who has to work in a candy store and every Monday a little girl goes to the store to buy stuff. This essay will be about the themes of the story, "Life as prison" and "Hope for a change"

On one hand, in the theme "Life as prison", Tomy's life is represnted as a prison where he has to do things that did not enjoy. He has a miserable life, because he want to do something, but he ends up doing the other way. He is a very troublemaker, he made something bad, and now he has to pay for it. For example, in one part of the story it says "He found himself thinking about the way his life had turned out"

On the other hand, "Hope for a change" refers to change the attituded of this little girl. Tomy has to change the girl's actioms because of what she has done, so that she does not make the same mistakes he did and end up like him. Because she will regret it for her entire life. An example for this is "But he worried he would not know what to say to her". And also when Tomy escapes to Texas at the beggining, hoping that his father's opinion of what he have to do, change.

All in all, these themes "Life as prison" and "Hope for a change" fit perfectly in the story, in my opinion, because tomy has a life did not choosed and hope to change his and the little girl's life.

Amor de monstruos

En la clase de arte, ilustramos un ser mitológico del cuento de Jorge Luis Borges "Los seres imaginarios" y luego, en la clase de Lengua, al azar, se armaron grupos donde con esas ilustraciones habia que crear una historia.
Y aquí nuestra historia, hecha con Roman

Dos monstruos con un amor imposible porque son lo más diferentes del mundo, pero dicen que los opuestos se atraen. No podian estar juntos porque eran de distinta especie pero el amor es más fuerte. Vivian juntos en una cueva que no se sabe dónde y tenias tres hijos, uno más diferente que el otro. Se conocieron cuando Lenin, mitad canguro con cola peluda, una cabeza muy ovalada y unos dientes perfectos aunque tenia un poco de sobre peso. Entro a la cabaña en un dia lluvioso de Elizabeth, una dragona feroz pero con unos ojasos y unas alas y un cuerpo colorida mente detallado. En busca de comida, pero en vez de comida, encontró el amor. Fue amor a primera vista cuando el vio esos ojos verdes y grandes que tenia ella supo que era el amor de
su vida. Viven juntos hace 4 años y medio aunque tuvieron un montón de complicaciones, por ejemplo cuando Elizabeth casi prende fuego a Lenin por estar discutiendo sobre limpiar la casa y porque cada vez que querian hacer algo juntos, sus gustos eran diferentes. Una vez Lenin le preguntó
- "Queres ir a cazar con migo?"
- "Vos no te das cuenta que tengo que cuidar a estos monstruitos?"
- "Uy pero vos siempre estás ocupada"
- Y si, si vos nunca haces nada!"  Todas sus discuciones terminaban con un "vos nunca haces nada". Hasta ayer nadie ha ido a buscarlos, al parecer Lenin no era muy querido. Pero un día un vikingo llamado Trotsky encontró a Lenin y lo llevo a la tribu donde estaba su padre, quien al enterarse de esto se enojó y le quito su apellido y además le quito la heredacion al trono. Lenin volvió arrepentido a su cueva y mato a su esposa sin derramar una lágrima
